What is an SSIC Conversion Exercise?

The Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) is the national standard for classifying business activities. The SSIC adopts the basic framework and principles of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC).

The SSIC is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect the changes in the Singapore economy structure, the emergence of new activities, as well as to align with changes in international standards. The review and update of the SSIC is known as SSIC Conversion Exercise and the latest update will be happening on 30 October 2021.

What are the updates?

As part of the SSIC Conversion Exercise 2020, there will be new updates to affected business entities on 30 October 2021, and the updates will be reflected upon:

  • the SSIC code
  • the description of the business entity

What do I need to do?

In order to check on the accuracy of the new updates, or to request a change if applicable, business owners are recommended to login to Bizfile and verify the information within 14 days from 30 October 2021.
